1. Technical Advisory committee (TAC) on Construction Statistics:
A Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on Construction Statistics was constituted by the Ministry of Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation under the chairmanship of Shri Vishnu Kumar, Additional Director General, National Accounts Division, Central Statistical Organisation, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on 10th January, 2005 to review the current status of construction statistics, to identify the data gaps in relation to requirements, to examine the problems in data collection, structure of the schedules, flow of data, data processing and dissemination. The committee has submitted its report and the same has been accepted by the Government.
2. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Housing Start Up Index (HSUI):
Technical Advisory Group (TAG) constituted by Reserve Bank of India for developing a methodology for evolving Housing Start Up Index (HSUI) under the chairmanship of eminent professor, Prof. Amitabh Kundu in its report submitted to the RBI has recommended that NBO and RBI would work jointly for development of the index.
3. Technical Group on Estimation of Urban Housing Shortage:
Technical Group on estimation of Urban Housing Shortage was constituted by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation under the chairmanship of Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Dean of School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru National University to estimate the urban housing shortage in the country at the beginning of Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-12) and the total requirement of housing units during the 11th Plan Period. The committee has submitted its report and the same have been accepted by the Government.
4. Committee on Slum Statistics/Census:
A Committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Pranob Sen, Principal Adviser, and Planning Commission was set up by Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) to study the slum definition and to estimate urban slum population for the whole country on the basis of available data. The committee submitted its final Report to the Ministry of HUPA and the same has been accepted by the Government.
