Handbook of Housing Statistics: The publication is based mainly on the data generated as part of the Census operations.

The publication contains data relating to housing stock, housing conditions, housing amenities, housing situation in metropolitan cities, housing situation in slums, tenure status and plan investment. Under the housing stock information on population, households, housing stock, occupied residential houses, distribution of census houses, value of residential buildings etc. are given. Housing conditions covers information on average number of persons per room, distribution of households by size of dwelling units, distribution of households by predominant material of wall and roof in rural and urban areas separately, housing shortage, houseless households etc. Housing conditions and facilities provides information concerning drinking water facilities, source of drinking water, availability of toilet facilities in rural and urban areas, type of toilet facilities, availability of electricity separately in rural and urban areas, primary source of energy etc.

The basic purpose of bringing out the handbook is to provide information relating to housing statistics emanating from various primary sources in one compendium, thus making it easier for researchers and policy formulators.

Building Material Prices and Wages of Labour: The data for the publication is collected quarterly at the instance of NBO by the State governments under the three tier scheme.

The publication contains data on selected building materials and wages of labour in respect of 44 centers spread throughout the country. The data is presented separately for four quarters for a particular year. In order to provide a comparative picture of the variations in the prices and wage rates annual average prices and wage rates for the six preceding years is also given.

The publication is useful for the public sector agencies engaged in providing housing and or related services, individual, builders; persons engaged in related research, persons in the real estate business by helping them make an assessment of the likely cost of the project.

Current Housing and Building Activities in Private and Public Sectors: Data for the publications emanates from the data got collected by NBO under its three tier scheme.

The publications contain information on building activity in different states, type of construction such as residential, non-residential, commercial, institutional, industrial as also information on number of rooms, new construction, addition to the floor area etc. and in case of public sector the data is also presented agencies viz. CPWD, MES, P&T, Railways, PSU’s etc.

The publication is useful for the policy framers and agencies active in the building and related fields and persons engaged in research.

Metropolitan Housing Statistics: Data for the publication emanates from the Census operations of RGI, CPCB, CPHEEO, data collected by NBO etc.

The publication contains information on various aspects of population, housing statistics including housing conditions, amenities, infrastructure building permits and completion certificates issued etc. in respect of Metropolitan Cities as generated by different agencies.

The publication provides information relating to metropolition housing emanating from various sources in on compendium thus making for the easier availability of relevant information for researchers and policy formulators.

Prominent Facts on Housing: It provides, in concise form, data on population, households, housing stock, housing shortage, housing conditions, building materials production, prices of selected building materials and wage rates, residential building cost index, current building activity in private sector, investment in housing in Five Year Plans, share of housing in national income and capital formation etc.

The publication is useful as a reference document.
